  • National Drugs Mission Funds

    Created: 01/06/2021
    News/Events Category: Funding and Finance

    Following the First Minister’s announcement of a new national mission to reduce drug related deaths and harms in January 2021, the Scottish Government is making £18 million available through four funds:

    • Service Improvement Fund: £5 million has been allocated to continue the Improvement Fund, launched earlier this year. To provide improved services for outreach, treatment, rehabilitation and after care
    • Local Support Fund: £5 million has been allocated to continue the Grassroots Fund, launched earlier this year. To provide access to funding for a wide range of communities and grassroots organisations which support the aims of the national mission
    • Recovery Fund: £5 million has been allocated to support access to residential rehabilitation by providing additional residential rehabilitation capacity, support people to access residential rehabilitation and support people after they leave residential rehabilitation
    • Children and Families Fund: £3 million has been allocated to improve support for children, young people and families impacted by drug use, and ensure all children, young people and families have access to services

    Funding is accessible by not-for-profit organisations working in the drugs sector, including Integration Authorities, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, third sector organisations and grassroots/community organisations.

    How to apply?

    Pathways to accessing these funds depend on the size and type of organisation, the amount of funding requested, and the details of the funding proposal. Multi-year funding is available, and applications will be accepted and grants awarded on a rolling basis.

    Organisations should e-mail a short expression of interest to [email protected] who will respond with information on the most appropriate pathway for your organisation.

    Expressions of interest should include:

    • short background of your organisation, including links to more information where available;
    • brief summary of the project you are seeking funding for and its intended outcomes;
    • approximate amount of funding you are seeking and for how many years, broken down per year; and
    • a named contact with contact information if further details are required.

    There is no definitive closing date for this fund.
