    Hours: 35 hours per week

    Salary: £20,420 per annum

    Contract: Permanent

    Location: Glenrothes and Methilhill

    Reporting to: Finance Manager

    Kingdom Community Bank (KCB) is looking to recruit a Loans Officer to join its team. The main purpose of the post is: 

    • To assess individual loan applications with prudent and responsible consideration using a variety of tools and techniques, such as affordability assessment, scoring, credit checking and other underwriting activities.
    • To support the work of Kingdom Community Bank (KCB) and to promote its ethos.

    Main Duties:

    1. To have responsibility for the decision making on loans up to the value of your designated authority.
    2. To assess each application based on KCB Lending Policy and its ethical and responsible lending practices.
    3. Communicate decision to members, and follow up deferred decisions in a timely manner.
    4. Interview members when applicable and assist with completion of online loan applications.
    5. Manage and deal with all loan administration in a timely manner and withing business targets.
    6. Keep up to date with credit reference agencies and their scoring mechanism as per business policy and practice.
    7. Work closely with the administrative team to ensure standards of service are set and maintained.
    8. To maintain a safe, clean working environment.
    9. Ensure that offices remain GDPR compliant, in line with its GDPR policies and prescribed requirements.
    10. Undertake other suitable duties as directed by line management to assist the credit union achieve its goals.

    Person Specification

    Essential requirements:

    1.  Relevant professional qualification and/or relevant work experience;
    2. Understanding of what makes a good loan;
    3. Ability to collate, summarise, interpret and present financial information verbally and in writing;
    4. Experience of working to tight deadlines within a daily routine;
    5. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages;
    6. Experience in delivering high quality customer service;
    7. Willingness to learn; work as part of a team and to help others;
    8. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, numeracy and ICT skills,
    9. Efficient, self-motivated, and proactive, with good organisational skills;
    10. Displays honesty, integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all actions and decisions.

    Desirable requirements:

    1. Qualification in Principles and Practices of Credit Union or willingness to study towards.
    2. Experience of working within the third sector.
    3. Experience of banking or financial services.
    4. Driving Licence and access to a car.
