Fife Carers Centre, based in Kirkcaldy, is a well regarded and well established organisation who have been supporting family and unpaid carers throughout Fife for over 24 years.
About this role:
A new role at Fife Carers Centre. The Carer Support worker will work with carers who are affected by their own mental ill-health as well as carers of people with mental illness. In addition to working one to one with the carers to help to manage and improve their own well being you will build connections with other organisations to provide a range of support and opportunities for carers.
You will work with adult carers on a one to one basis and in groups. You support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information as well as practical help, spend time with carers listening and using the Adult Carer Support Plan and Emergency Planning tools. This helps carers to think about how their life is affected by their caring role along with what are their aspirations and concerns for the future. You will provide information and the means to use it to carers on a wide range of topics. From applying for benefits to learning more about the condition affecting the person they care for. Most importantly, you will work with the carer to protect their own physical, emotional, mental and financial health whilst they maintain their caring role.
As a Carer Support Worker you will be working one to one with carers in the community, you'll see a diverse mix of caring situations and you will be ready to help with compassion, understanding, efficiency, knowledge and imagination as well as humour and a lightness of touch.
