Lunchtime Learning - Commissioning In Complexity
Created: 26/02/2021, Updated: 01/03/2021“Commissioning in Complexity: Moving from ‘delivering outputs’ to ‘delivering change’
Public sector commissioners, funders and third sector providers are often working in the area of ‘complexity’ even if our funding and reporting structures do not acknowledge it. Employability is a classic example, but providing housing, addressing drug and alcohol misuse, supporting families who are struggling – none of these are linear problems where ‘input X can guarantee output y.’
This sessions asks, is it time we thought differently about how we commission, deliver and evaluate services working in these contexts? How do we shift from capturing outputs to delivering impact?
Fife Voluntary Action are delighted to welcome members of the Human Learning Systems collaborative: Andy Brogan of Easier Inc and Matt Bell, CEO of Plymouth Octopus Project (POP).
Together they will explore the concept of “commissioning in complexity”, why it matters, lessons learned, common pitfalls and key considerations in shifting approach.
