News/Events Category: Funding and FinanceThe Ashden Awards reward organisations that deliver sustainable energy at the local level, and through this bring social, economic and environmental benefits. Work should be innovative and have the potential to create a significant impact. Initiatives should boost resilience and be as participatory and democratic as possible.
Award categories open to organisations in the UK are:
- Ashden Award for climate innovation in the UK: targets key areas with the potential to unlock significant carbon savings across the UK..
- Ashden Award for green skills: highlights organisations developing green skills in the areas of retrofit and low carbon heat.
- Ashden Award for green communities: recognises an initiative that makes climate action relevant to the everyday lives of citizens and the things they care about, with particular attention on engaging beyond typical ‘green audiences’
Who can apply?
Businesses, NGOs, government organisations, and social enterprises (both for-profit and not-for-profit, including community groups) are all eligible to apply an award. Winners receive a prize of £10,000 and a package of support which includes professional mentoring and pro-bono legal help.
The deadline for applications is 03 March 2021, and winners will be announced at some point during Autumn 2021. Applications can be made here.
