Flu vaccine for third sector staff, volunteers and carers
Created: 16/11/2020In order to address the additional risk posed by COVID-19, NHS Fife and partners have extended this year's flu vaccination programme to include staff working within social care and anyone in Fife who delivers direct personal care under various settings* (including young/unpaid carers).
Staff and carers entitled to a free flu vaccine are provided with an eligibility letter detailing directions on how to access the vaccine through their community pharmacies.
NHS Fife and partners are keen to ensure that anyone who works within social care or delivers direct personal care receives the flu vaccine if they are eligible. They are asking organisations across Fife's third sector who work with social care staff or young/unpaid carers to reach out if they feel that any of their staff, volunteers or carers are eligible to receive the vaccine, based on the following criteria:
"Social care workers who provide direct personal care in the following settings; adult care homes, children’s residential or secure care or care at home including Personal Assistants.* This is targeted at those delivering direct personal care in these settings no matter of whether they are employed by Local Authorities, private or third sector employers." - Scotland's Chief Medical Officer.
If you feel that any of your staff, volunteers or carers fall into this category and would like further guidance on how to access this free flu vaccination programme, please e-mail us with details of how many of your people fall into the category above at [email protected]. We can then arrange for the letters and list of participating pharmacies to be disseminated.
