The first ever virtual Carers Parliament 2020
Created: 18/10/2020Carers Scotland, part of Carers UK, will host its first virtual Carers Parliament across three days on 16, 17 and 25 November.
On Days 1 and 2, carers and young carers from across Scotland will have the opportunity to take part in workshops ranging from the social care review to financial inequality and from human rights to mental health and wellbeing. Day 2 will further include a webinar from Professor Jason Leitch, Clinical Director for the Scottish Government talking about “Managing risk and decision making in a COVID world”.
On Day 3, the main event will take place with interviews from carers, a presentation by young carers, with a keynote address from Joe Fitzpatrick, Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing. This will be followed by a panel discussion with questions from carers to the Minister, as well as COSLA’s Councillor Stuart Currie, Clare Haughey, Minister for Mental Health and Dundee Carers Centre’s CEO Lucinda Godfrey.
Following the main event, the Carers Parliament will host a range of information and wellbeing rooms where carers can take part in activities, hear about services and supports or simply have a chat.
