Economic Recovery Implementation Plan - Scottish Government Response

News/Events Category: General NewsOn 05 August 2020, the Scottish Government published its response to the recent Advisory Group on Economic Recovery report. In the response, the Government recognises that "the third sector is a significant contributor to a wellbeing economy as profit is recycled into communities and social capital is increased by its operation. Building on the positive community led response through the COVID-19 pandemic and improving resilience in our Third Sector will be key to achieving a sustainable wellbeing economy."
As part of the economic recovery, the Government are committing to taking a partnership approach with third and voluntary sectors as well as other key stakeholders. A number of the actions relate specifically to work with the third and voluntary sectors. This includes:
- improving and making better use of public procurement process;
- introducing a new Third Sector Resilience Fund, designed to help the sector adapt and contribute to the recovery;
- introducing a new Partnership Agreement between the Scottish Government, Local Government and the Third Sector (including a commitment to longer term funding;
- issuing guidance to all public bodies and agencies to encourage them to strengthen their relationships with the third sector, business, trade unions,and local government;
- working with youth work organisations, third sector, local authorities and other employers to develop a Scottish Job Guarantee for young people;
- working with Third Sector organisations, through the Attainment Scotland Fund, to deliver summer learning and support programmes to support the most disadvantaged children in our society; and
- setting up a new Due Diligence support service across Scottish Government to ensure all portfolios can support the third sector as a major contributor to policy outcomes.
