On the 29th July 2020, the Minor Ailment Service which has been delivered by community pharmacies since 2006 will be replaced with the new NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service

NHS Pharmacy First Scotland will allow community pharmacies to give people expert help for treating conditions such as sore throats, earache and cold sores, along with common clinical conditions such as Urinary Tract Infections. Further detail on this service can be found within this information pack.

This service will be open to those living in care homes and will require care home and pharmacy teams to work closely together in new ways to support residents. This guidance sheet gives a broad overview of how NHS Pharmacy First Scotland will work in the care home setting.
