The Economy Energy and Fair Work Committee are seeking views on how COVID-19 has impacted on young people’s career/job prospects and what can be done to help.

The Committee has heard evidence that the economic crisis could disproportionately impact young people and will potentially have a negative effect on their careers and working lives. The Committee would like to hear the views from young people on what should be done about this. The consultation aims to gather views on the following questions:

    • How can we ensure that young people have the skills needed in the economy and make sure that they gain or remain in employment?
    • What has the impact been on young people leaving school or further education?
    • What can employers do? What can the Scottish Government do?

Young people can also share their thoughts via this digital consultation platform set up by the Scottish Parliament. Users can upload their thoughts, like/comment on others and share images and video as well as traditional text.
