Children's Services Commissioning Workshop
Created: 20/12/2019This is an update on the work being undertaken in Fife to review third sector commissioned services for children and families.
Through our website, e-mail bulletins, e-mails and our Voluntary Sector Children’s Services Forum (VSCSF) we have been keeping organisations up to date throughout the year. In partnership with our Council colleagues we jointly commissioned consultants to undertake a review of existing commissioned services. Click here to read the Report. The Report has produced some options which are being carefully considered by the commissioners.
The Steering Group which oversaw the commissioning of the Report consists of senior public sector colleagues, me and Laura Crombie (chairperson of the VSCSF). We continue to meet as we move to a new process (details in this download). The Group now also consists of 3 elected members from the Education and Children’s Services Committee (including the chairperson and vice chairperson of the Committee). This Group will oversee the work to improve how we work together across sectors and proceed with a thorough strategic commissioning exercise.
You can access the papers for the last Committee meeting here.
Those organisations already in receipt of a grant will have recently received a letter advising them of the grant position for 2020/21, and advising them that they’ll here from me about the process which will lead to commissioning of services from April 2021. The attached document sets out the process and timescale, and the important thing to note is that we’re holding a workshop to which all third sector providers that are currently funded as well as those who are interesting in being commissioned for the delivery of services to children and families can attend and participate. The purpose of the workshop is not to go over the Report – the Report has been helpful in framing recent discussions that have led to the launch of this process and further improve commissioning and relationships amongst organisations and services. The Steering Group is keen that we co-produce as much as possible and make the most of this opportunity.
Places must be booked and we ask that you do not seek to book more than 2 people from your organisation. We expect demand to be high and want to accommodate as many organisations as wish to attend.
If you have any queries, then please do get in touch.
