Fife Alcohol Support Service - Volunteer Development Officer
Created: 25/10/2019, Updated: 31/10/2019Post: Volunteer Development Officer
Hours: 36 per week
Salary: £9.00 per hour
FASS’s Curnie Clubs have been shortlisted, by The Rank Foundation in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund, for ‘Time to Shine’. This presents a potential opportunity for someone to work with the Clubs, tackling loneliness and isolation, on a specific project for 1 year.
It’s not only older and young people who suffer from loneliness. Curnie Clubs are for adults who have, through various circumstances, found themselves severely isolated or lonely. They are Member-led and facilitated by trained counsellors. Fun, welcoming and non-judgemental and running in towns across Fife, the Clubs have already helped hundreds of Members rejoin communities.
This new role will help the Members develop an already active Volunteer Service, as well as its Community Bridge – reaching out to those who are unable to attend the Clubs. The position is subject to successful interview, by FASS and the funder. An appointed candidate will use their own initiative but will be fully supported through fortnightly supervision and everyday direction. Training will be provided where necessary.
The successful candidate will have some community work experience and proven research and report writing skills, either work- or education-based. They are most interested in someone who shares the ethos of the project, which fosters understanding, self-sufficiency and community. The post is subject to a PVG Disclosure. Some out of hours work and travel may be required.
