    This one day course is facilitated by Fife Rape and Sexual Assault Centre (FRASAC) and is aimed at practitioners working with adults and/or children or who those who are supporting survivors of sexual abuse. The course aims to develop an understanding of the specific issues for those who have been raped or sexually assaulted at some time in their lives. Objectives of the Training:

    • To consider the nature, attitude and prevalence of sexual abuse;
    • To examine the immediate and longer term impacts;
    • To identify ways to deal with disclosure;
    • To become familiar with police and court procedures.

    On completing this training participants will:

    • Have an increased understanding of the complexities surrounding those who have experienced rape or sexual abuse;
    • Recognise the difficulties for those disclosing or reporting rape or sexual abuse;
    • Know how to cope with disclosure of rape or sexual abuse;
    • Be aware of the importance of good practice in the work place;
    • Appreciate the roles of other agencies and inter-agency working.
