  • Wilder Ways: Mentoring in Community

    Created: 06/02/2019
    News/Events Category: General News

Wilder Ways is a rites of passage school run two days a week for young people aged 11-16. Wilder Ways offers place based education. They have a woodland base camp on Falkland Estate, Fife and they also wander widely throughout Fife and Scotland. Running since September 2017 Wilder Ways is now opening the group up for up to 4 new places. Inspired by the 8-shields movement, permaculture and non violent communication they have built a curriculum that looks to nature as their teacher.

The role of the mentor is to create a space for everyone to travel through together and in their own way with empathy and compassion. Through these connections they support each person to discover their own interests and gifts. At their base camp and on regular field trips they foster a sense of place by exploring and discovering the stories of their history, culture and ecology, their trees, rivers, weather patterns, animals and people.

They meet on Thursdays and Fridays during school term from 9.00am-3.30pm.
