Disability and Health Support Training for Employer Engagement staff
Created: 24/01/2019Did you know that it is estimated that around 15% of the workforce have symptoms of an existing mental health condition? Or that across the UK 500,000 people with long-term mental health conditions lose their job each year?
According to SeeMe, the average employer of 25 employees can expect mental health issues to cost their business around £18,943 a year.
The good news is that there is lots of support out there, and with a few simple steps, employers can cut those costs by 30% and with a small investment they can be reduced further still.
To learn how, you are invited to attend an employer engagement continuous professional development session on three strands of employer facing support available in Fife: the Department for Work and Pensions’ Disability Confident, Access to Work and the new Health & Work Support pilot in Fife.
Disability Confident is a scheme that is designed to help employers to recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions for their skills and talent.
Access to Work is a scheme that can help to assess individuals in the workplace and fund reasonable adjustments to enable staff to fulfil their job role. Organised by DWP, there can be up to 100% funding to help employers support staff.
Health and Work Support is the new way to access advice and guidance for anyone who needs help to stay in, or get back into work, if they have a health condition or disability. It also supports employers with general guidance or specific advice on a whole range of health and work issues.
