  • Democracy Matters - Regional Deliberation Event (Edinburgh)

    Created: 08/11/2018

    When: 1730-1930, Tuesday 20 November 2018
Where: The Melting Pot, 5 Rose Street, 4th Floor, Edinburgh
This event is being organised by Local Governance Review

It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

Last year, the Scottish Government and COSLA jointly launched the Local Governance Review to consider how powers, responsibilities and resources are shared across national and local government and with communities. The aim is to strengthen local democracy to improve outcomes in local communities, grow Scotland’s economy for everyone’s benefit, and ensure local communities have more say about how public services in their area are run.

Since May this year community groups have been encouraged to hold Democracy Matters conversations with communities of place and interest across the country. The ideas generated through these conversations are being gathered and will ensure that the outcomes of the review focus on what local people have identified.

To round off this engagement phase they will be holding a series of regional events to bring together those who have already had Democracy Matters conversations and others who have not yet had the chance to reflect together on the emerging themes, and what these say about what needs to happen next

They want to hear from you!

They are inviting you to have your say on the themes and issues that have arisen from Democracy Matters conversations that have been happening across the country. Find out more about the Local Governance Review & Democracy Matters Conversations, meet the team and discuss your views and ideas about how they can bring decision making to a community level. This is a free informal workshop style event.

Unfortunately, there are no events scheduled in Fife, but there are opportunities to attend in both Edinburgh and Dundee.

    Who is this event for?

This event is open to everyone! All welcome, whether you're an interested member of the public, working professional or a student. They encourage everyone to take part and share their ideas, but you can also just sit and listen to what others have to say..
