Official launch of Kingdom Community Bank shop in Glenrothes
Created: 06/11/2018Kingdom Community Bank, Fife’s largest credit union, has re-located to the heart of Glenrothes within the Kingdom Shopping Centre. Its re-branded branch, in Lyon Way, offers extended hours and 6 days a week opening, making it much more convenient and accessible for existing and new members.
The official opening of the new branch shop will take place on Monday 12 November at 12:30pm and the ceremonial opening will be conducted by the Provost of Fife, Cllr. Jim Leishman.
The opening will also mark the start of Talk Money Week (formerly Financial Capability Week). Held from 12th to 18th November, Talk Money Week is an opportunity to reduce the stigma around money by encouraging conversations among families, friends, colleagues and children. Designed to improve people’s money management skills and financial wellbeing, Talk Money Week is the annual celebration of the work organisations like Kingdom Community Bank are doing to improve people’s financial capability across the UK.
Kingdom Community Bank is offering free membership to everyone who signs up as a new member on the day. In addition, new members will be entered into a draw to win a £50 credit into the winner’s new account.
They offer savings and loans to anyone who lives or works in Fife. It is a not-for-profit financial co-operative owned and run by its members. It is a social enterprise where financial inclusion and education sit alongside delivering economic benefits to all of its members. Kingdom Community Bank aims to be seen as a viable and attractive alternative to other local or national financial providers for those who are seeking to save or borrow.
John Hendrie, CEO, Kingdom Community Bank said:
"The launch of our new Glenrothes branch, under our new trading name of Kingdom Community Bank, marks our long-term commitment to the town and the rest of Fife. We want to get the message across that credit unions are for everyone. For us, FIFE, in addition to being the area we serve, stands for our values of being Fair, Inclusive, Friendly and Ethical. We are about people helping people. This is an exciting time for us and our continued progression would not be possible without the support of our members, volunteers, staff and partners."
