    Costs
    This event is free to attend but to encourage attendance and try and ensure a good turnout to benefit all delegates, we will charge a non-attendance fee of £20.00 per delegate. By submitting a booking for this event you agree to pay this fee for those delegates who have places booked but do not attend.

    Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event, thus avoiding non-attendance fees. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate without incurring a non-attendance fee.

    This course will explore the principles of all types of background checking for both staff and volunteers.

    The course will provide information on:

    • General information on PVG and disclosure checking;
    • The different types of disclosure check available (e.g. Basic, Standard, Enhanced and PVG Scheme) and which roles require which type of check;
    • A brief look at how to go about processing checks (this is covered in more detail in the PVG signatory course);
    • Safe recruitment: risk assessment and other good practice measures.

    Course Outcome: 

    This is an introductory course with the goal that attendees leave aware of the general principles of PVG and Disclosure checks.

    Who should attend?

    Anyone with supervisory responsibilities for staff or volunteers including Trustees/Board Members
