Children‘s Services Discussions (for those with an SLA)
Created: 10/10/2018This is a special session that has been created in response to discussions between representatives of Fife's Voluntary Sector Children's Services Forum (VSCSF) and Fife Voluntary Action (FVA), with elected members and senior officers from Fife Council and Fife Health and Social Care Partnership.
We have been advised that significant savings must be made in 2019/20 and the current, provisional figure is for a 10% cut (£410,000). There's a possibility of further savings being added to this when budget discussions are held within the public sector.
We have been asked to provide:
1. a detailed understanding of the impact of such cuts, and,
2. provide detail of what efficiencies or savings could be identified without impacting on service delivery.
This will be a significant amount of work and FVA is willing to lead on this, with support from members of the VSCSF.
We therefore ask that as many of the currently funded organisations send along a representative with details on those two points. We will also have some discussions about more ambitious opportunities for savings, such as shared premises and/or back office functions.
These discussions are scheduled to take place between 09.30 and 11am. Following straight after (11-12:30), we'll be facilitating discussions amongst funded and currently non-funded children's services organisations about how we can best redesign services in Fife to achieve our strategic ambitions, but in a joined-up and sustainable way. Many people consider that funding existing services, with considerably less money and greater demand is unsustainable and doesn't serve children, families or local communities well. We'd like to explore ideas and ways of working that we can then take back to our public sector partners and develop further.
By signing up for this event, you are signing up for both parts. Only funded organisations are invited to attend both parts. Those organisations that don't have an SLA at present will be able to book onto the second part through the FVA website.
We'll host an informal networking lunch from 12.30.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at here at FVA.
