NEW - Data Protection Act 2018
Created: 25/05/2018The new Data Protection Act 2018 has achieved Royal Assent and is now in force. This new legislation is a significant update on the 1998 Act to sit alongside GDPR, or the General Data Protection Regulation which is in force across all European member states from 25 May 2018.
It's just under 340 pages and you can read all of it here.
Although 25 May is now passed, all organisations should keep GDPR/DPA2018 at the forefront of their thoughts when thinking about data, privacy, IT security and risk management. As the new legislation is tested in court and new guidance comes out, organisations may need to make further improvements or changes to their practice to be compliant.
Here at FVA we are busy reading the Act in detail and will be producing a summary. We'll also consider further training on data protection and information security if there's a demand. Please let us know if you'd be interested in such training.
In the meantime, we'd like to remind you about our GDPR/DPA2018 page and our GDPR Toolkit which will save organisations a lot of time and hassle for a modest fee.
