PAMIS Profound Impact Day - Thursday 17 May 2018
As part of Learning Disability Week (14-20 May 2018), Scottish charity PAMIS are holding their annual Profound Impact Day, a campaign day devoted to raising awareness of profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). This will be held on Thursday 17 May 2018 and fits with this year's theme for Learning Disability Week - 'My Generation', and 2018's ‘Year of Young People’ in Scotland. By contacting Universities and Colleges and libraries they are hoping to raise awareness about PMLD among the general public as well as the future educators, health professionals and social workers.
To tie in with this, PAMIS have created information packs, assisted by students on placement, which can be downloaded from their website by clicking here, or this can be posted to you if you would prefer.
They would be very grateful if you would display this information on a notice board within your building and/or share with your contacts so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to read it and find out more about one of the most marginalised groups in our society.
PAMIS also have a fantastic short film which they would like you to watch and share if possible on Profound Impact Day, either in public spaces or with small groups perhaps over lunchtime. The abridged version is around 15 minutes, so may be the best choice. This can accessed by clicking here.
Highlighting Profound Impact Day on social media would also be a huge support - and if you use #ProfoundImpact this will help them to identify you as taken part and they can share that you are supporting their campaign.
