LLCG provides day services and help to stay at home services to older people in Glenrothes and the surrounding area that enhance their quality and enjoyment of life by encouraging interaction, mental & physical activity, and companionship.
No specific experience is required to join their Board of Directors but you should have a drive to want to make life better for older people and their carers. As a Board Member you will help steer the organisation through your own experience and perspectives, while at the same time gaining valuable experience in management and governance. The key attributes required are commitment, enthusiasm, and a willingness to actively participate in in Board Meetings. Board members are also expected to join one of the Board Sub Groups and be prepared to take on a share of the work involved within these groups.
The Chair is happy to chat informally by phone with potential applicants to give more details about board membership and roles, to discuss the individual's skills and experience and to answer any questions.
Ongoing support and training is given as required.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
