Care and Share Companionship is a Scottish Registered Charity. We support people over the age of 60 who are living in isolation and loneliness within the Kirkcaldy area of Fife. Our aim is to provide a service that helps improve health and wellbeing. The role of the Chair is to lead the board of trustees, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the charity, to work in partnership with the manager, helping to achieve the aims of the organisation; building relationships between the board with staff and volunteers and to optimise the skills of the Trustees. To be committed to the aims and values of the Charity. The Chairperson is responsible for making sure that each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the constitution and that matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner. To attend and participate in regular Board Meetings, at present via Zoom. For further information please visit our website: www.careandsharecompanionship.org or our Facebook page.
Volunteer will receive a Trustee Handbook and introduced to members of the Board.
Ongoing training opportunities may be available from FVA and other Third Sector support organisations i.e. Befriending Networks.
We are looking for a person who has some knowledge of the voluntary sector.
Good leadership skills, experience of committee work, tact and diplomacy, good people skills and the ability to be impartial and respect confidences.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
