Gallatown Gala & Community Group are proud of what they already achieve in the local community - an annual gala day as well as Christmas, Halloween and other events for people in the Gallatown area. Using the premises at Happy Days in St Clair Street and the Bowling Club, and working with other local groups and the council, they are also able to offer various activities such as dance classes for adults and children; meditation; music; creative writing; Bite & Blether cafe; Talking Cafe; clothing stall and more. And the committee has exciting plans (e.g. a growing space/wild play area; youth groups; becoming a charity), all of which they need YOUR help to achieve. General Committee members with an interest in these topics are very welcome. If you would like an informal chat with another member, or to come along to our AGM on 23 October at 1pm, you would be very welcome.
Free training from Fife Voluntary Action will be available.
You should have an interest in the Gallatown and a few hours to spare each week/fortnight to be hands-on making things happen.
Your attitude and enthusiasm is more important than previous experience. Training is available from a reputable third sector organisation and other committee members can support you.
Restrictions on who can volunteer
No restrictions were specified.
Application Form; Informal Chat
Meetings are usually held in Happy Days, 254 St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy KY1 2DB (which is also where our AGM will be held). The times and days will vary depending on members' availability.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
