The Treasurer will guide us on financial concerns, oversee the financial work of our charity and maintain close links with Feat Trading CIC helping maximise income streams back to the core business. The main tasks are: Maintaining an overview of the Charity's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Treasurer will advise on the financial implications of the Charity's strategic plans, including having input to the subsidiary company Feat Trading CIC strategic plan.
Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) is a mental health charity in Glenrothes. Our mission is to enable and support individuals to reach their full positive mental well-being in a culture where there is no stigma. FEAT provides programmes to support people with mental health issues self-manage their conditions and develop employability skills, help them access employment or other activities such as further education/volunteering. The people we work with often struggle to engage and are sometimes far removed from meaningful occupation. We build resilience, foster hope and encourage self-belief by connecting with them, exploring values, improving their self-awareness and teaching coping strategies. We support around 500 people per year and in 2017 were named runners-up in the GlaxoSmithKline Impact Awards.
Volunteers receive induction and ongoing training and support.
FEAT seeks a Treasurer with an empathy towards those with mental health issues.
The Treasurer will have financial qualifications and experience of financial controls i.e. an accountant or similar.
Preferably we would like someone with an understanding of Charity finance, pensions and legal requirements but this is not essential.
The volunteer will also have good independent judgement, be able to think creatively and be prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the Board.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
