Dunfermline District Scouts are looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual to act as Secretary to the Executive Committee. Below is a list of the key tasks involved:-
Provide administrative support to the running of the Executive Committee, including dealing with incoming mail, writing and sending letters/e-mails to the appropriate third parties and organising relevant meetings of the Executive Committee. Work with the Chair of the Executive Committee to set meeting agendas and arrange meeting logistics for the Executive Committee. Take accurate and accessible minutes of Executive Committee meetings. Distribute agendas, minutes and supporting documents for Executive Committee meetings. Maintain accurate records for the administration of the District; including meeting minutes, census details, ownership of property and equipment, insurance and financial information. Ensure the safety and security of records maintained by the Executive Committee, complying with appropriate legal requirements. Communicate with the Executive Committee and relevant Scout Council(s). Prepare the appropriate administration for the Annual General meeting, including collating the Annual Report and Accounts for the Annual General Meeting. Be a full and active participant in Executive Committee meeting and activities. To uphold the responsibilities of an Executive Committee as outlined in the Scout Association's Policy Organisation and Rules. Contribute to the strategic aims and future development of the District.
The Secretary may delegate some of these tasks to other members of the Executive Committee for completion, but they must maintain responsibility for their completion.
Volunteer must complete Module 1 within 5 months of full appointment.

Willing to speak one's mind and listen to the views of others.
Able to maintain independent and objective judgement.
Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
