SCI is a charity working directly with communities on social and environmental sustainability. All our projects inspire, support and increase resilience in individuals and community groups, and take place at our Earthship Fife Visitor Centre, in schools or community centres, or at community events. As a Management Committee member of SCI you will be expected to demonstrate your passion and enthusiasm for sustainability by driving the future direction of the organization. The management committee meets once every 6 weeks; at each meeting the finances, project status and direction of the organization are discussed with the SCI development manager. Decisions on future projects, funding opportunities, events and investments are made by the management committee, so it is vital that you are prepared to make difficult decisions and make your voice heard. Ideally you will contribute ideas for the future growth of SCI and clearly communicate how these will benefit the organization.

Director, Trustee, Board/Committee member or Governor?!
Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for the running of the organisation - some are called Board members, some are Committee members, some may use the word Director for example. Broadly speaking, they mean the same thing - the people at the top who are ultimately responsible! These are important roles (for which training and support is available) and without volunteers at board level voluntary sector organisations could not exist.
