Penumbra, Fife Self-Harm Project
Created/last updated: 08/02/2023Aims and objectives | Penumbra is an innovative Scottish mental health charity, working to improve mental wellbeing across the nation. We work to PROMOTE mental health and wellbeing for all, PREVENT mental ill health for people who are ''˜at risk'' and to SUPPORT people with mental health problems. The Fife Self harm project is based in Dunfermline and provides a Fife-wide service. The aim of the Project is to manage the development of a response service for people aged 18+ who live in Fife, have had issues of self-harm and/or are at risk of suicide. The Project also works to reduce social isolation, promote social skills and provide the opportunity for peer support. It enables people who self-harm to talk about their issues in a non-judgemental, safe and friendly environment and offers support in developing personal coping strategies. The Project provides service users with information and advice on harm minimisation with the emphasis on empowering people to take control of their own lives. |
