  Fife Climate Knowhow training helps participants to find out all they need to know about the climate emergency and how it can affect our lives as residents of Fife.

  The day is broken into two segments:

  1. Morning - Climate Science & Justice            
  2. Afternoon - Climate Action & Conversations  

  This two-part day of awareness and participation supports you to:

  • Learn together about the science behind climate change by taking part in a Climate Fresk collage
  • Reflect on the local and global impacts of climate change and the importance of climate justice
  • Find tangible ways to reduce your carbon emissions and start your own climate action plan
  • Discuss our society’s climate silence and develop tools for talking to people about climate change

  The course includes presentation-style learning, as well as plenty of opportunities for group discussions, and climate related games and activities.  

  The Fife Climate Knowhow course meets the Carbon Literacy Project Standard. By attending the training day and completing a short form you can become certified as Carbon Literate.

  There is no cost to you if you wish to become Carbon Literate, and the training providers can support you through the short process.

  Climate Action Fife, the event organisers and learning guides, are aware that directly confronting climate change and its effects can be an emotional experience and will set aside time for personal reflection throughout and encourage participants to take additional breaks whenever needed.

  A climate-friendly lunch and refreshments will be provided.

  This course is for everyone living, studying or working in Fife. You don’t need any prior knowledge or understanding of climate change.

  • You can arrive for 9:00 - 9:30 for coffee and registration
  • Parking at New Volunteer House is restricted to permit holders only, and permits are usually only available to trainers or those requiring a disabled parking space, please contact us in advance if you wish to request a parking permit. Parking is available nearby at the free car park next to Kirkcaldy train station – a 5 minute walk from New Volunteer House.

Who can book

Most people at our events are staff, volunteers or committee members of community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations. We take bookings from public sector colleagues for almost everything, and from private sector businesses for some events.

If you are not part of an organisation, put Private Individual in the organisation box and we will get in touch before confirming.

Booking for other people

Give each person their own e-mail address if you can. Everything about the event goes to the person attending, and the link to change or cancel a place is personal to them.

Privacy

We collect personal data on this page. We use it only to run this event and to ask what you thought of it afterwards. We share it with the people organising and delivering the event, and nobody else. We will not add you to any mailing list or use it for anything else.
