To: The Most Venerable Thich Huyen Quang
Fourth Supreme Patriarch of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam
Nguyen Thieu Pagoda, Binh Dinh, Vietnam
Congratulations to you and the leadership of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam for your continuing efforts to bring freedom of religion to Vietnam. I particularly want to thank and offer my encouragement to the following leaders:
The Most Venerable Thich Huyen Quang (Fourth Supreme Patriarch of the UBCV)
The Very Venerable Thich Quang Do (Rector of the Institute for the Propagation of
the Dharma of the UBCV)
The Venerable Thich Tue Sy (First Deputy, Institute of the Propagation of Dharma)
The Venerable Thich Vien Dinh (Second Deputy)
The Venerable Thich Nguyen Ly (General Treasurer)
The Venerable Thich Thanh Huyen (General Secretary of the Division of Youth)
The Venerable Thich Duc Thang (General Secretary, Institute for the Propagation of Dharma)
I also appeal to the government of Vietnam to end harassment and false imprisonment of these leaders. The exercise of the freedom of religion is a basic human right that must be respected by the government if the government is to be respected by the free people of the world.
Sincerely,
Chuck Reed
