Rallies For Human Rights In Vietnam:
December 8 in Westminster (Little Saigon)
December 10 in San Francisco.

San Jose - More than 45 Vietnamese organizations in California met in Santa Clara on Saturday November 16, 96 to coordinate activities to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly 48 years ago on December 10, 1948. It is noted that this is the first time that a large number of organizations in California came together to organize this annual event. The Southern California delegation is led by Mr. Doan Trieu Hung, Dr. Nguyen Trong Viet and Mr. Cao Huu Vinh.

The meeting started at 1PM at the office of the Vietnamese Political Action Committee. Attending organizations included the Free Vietnam Alliance, Vietnamese Community of Northern California, Vietnamese Community of Stockton, National United Front for the Liberation of Vietnam, Vietnamese Nationalist Party, Dai Viet Party, Vietnamese Professionals Society, VPAC, etc. After 4 hours of discussion and planning, the following decisions were achieved:

1- Organize a rally for Human Rights In Vietnam to be held in San Francisco at the United Nations Plaza (in front of the Federal Building, 101 Hyde Street) on Tuesday, December 10, 1996, from 11AM to 2PM.

2- Launch a campaign to send copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to Vietnam in the weeks prior to rally in San Francisco;

3- Circulate a petition to allow dissidents from Vietnam to come to the US to discuss human rights conditions, as allowed by HR4036 signed by President Bill Clinton.

4- Organize a Human Rights rally in Westminster (Little Saigon area), Southern California, on Sunday, December 8, 1996.

5- Form a coordinating committee which includes the following:

San Jose: Mr. Ngo Trong Duc and Mr. Do Hung
Southern CA: Mr. Doan Trieu Hung
San Joaquin: Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien
San Francisco: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chuan
Oakland: Mr. Nguyen Ky Duong

The committee is planning to invite more organizations to join the committee.
