Contract: 12 month fixed term with possible extension
    Hours: 35 per week
    Salary: £28,762
Location: CARF HQ (does not offer advice)

Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF) is Fife’s leading independent advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people for over 25 years. Their service is as important as ever and the organisation is keen to further develop links with our local communities, providing the support they are renowned for in locations familiar to their clients.

The Welfare Benefits Adviser (Wells) will support individuals, in particular unpaid carers, with practical welfare advice improving their financial position through assessing entitlements as well as assisting with complex benefit related enquiries. In addition, you will provide appropriate training to upskill and enable staff in community based health related organisations to assist service users with more basic benefit queries and ensure clients access the services they need.

The Well is a place where you can drop-in, both in your community and online to find and receive general advice to help you stay well and independent within your local community. There are a number of “Wells” located across all seven of Fife Health and Social Care’s localities bringing together a wide range of professionals who know all about health and social care in the local community.

Working alongside the staff in the Wells, you will give complex benefit advice and support to vulnerable clients (in particular, unpaid carers) with benefit queries or issues. You will establish constructive relationships within public and third sector organisations.

You will be expected to keep your skills, knowledge and experience up-to-date in all key areas of advice and service delivery to allow you to undertake quality of advice checks as well as provide the highest possible service to clients of CARF.

    About You

You will have a good standard of education, high quality personal skills and a desire to improve lives. Experience of working in an advice giving capacity and/or a knowledge or interest in the social security system would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as supporting and delivering on CARF’s vision and values.
