Fife Council’s Community Development Team is organising a Participatory Budgeting (PB) process that will invest £300,000 in projects in the Kirkcaldy area (Kirkcaldy, Kinghorn, Burntisland, Dysart, Auchtertool and Puddledub) over the next year.

PB is an inclusive way for local communities to decide how they want to spend council funds. It began in Brazil in 1989 and has since been used in many countries around the world including the USA, Sweden, the Dominican Republic, Italy and many more.

Working in partnership with local communities will help the council to achieve more and get to the heart of what matters for local people in local communities. It gives an opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in their community and empowering them in how money is spent in the local area.

They are looking to recruit a community-led steering group that can lead the process.

People don’t need to be experts of any kind to be involved - just keen to do something that will create positive change in the Kirkcaldy area. There will be training and support for people who would like to get involved.

    How to get involved
